Full Itinerary
A Vintage Vehicle
First meet your beautifully restored vintage car at its home in our garage in the middle of the beautiful Tuscan countryside. You will also meet your tour leader who will give you some expert guidance on how to drive a car from the 1960s.
Top Tip: Don’t forget your driver’s license!
Fly Through Florence
Once you are feeling confident about your car, the Fiat 500 tour begins! We will drive through the streets of Florence before leaving the bustling city behind. We will then take an avenue lined with cypress trees and climb high above the city for some amazing views. You won’t have to worry about getting lost, as you will be following the guide and will be in constant radio contact.
Fantastic Photo Ops
Our first stop is at one of the oldest churches in Florence. There's time for a quick visit inside and a chance to take some great photos of you and your car with the city as your backdrop. Then we set off for a gorgeous drive through the hills. We will travel along narrow stone-walled lanes, past historic villas and fields of olive trees, all the while making short stops to take photos of the wonderful landscape. If you have been riding shotgun, now is your chance to swap places with the driver and have your turn behind the wheel!
Lunch Like a Local
Next we will have the chance to sit on a private terrace and take in stunning views of the Tuscan hills, dotted with villas and castles. While we soak up the scenery we can sample some excellent local cheeses and ham and Chianti wine.
Top Tip: Only one glass though! After all, you’re not done driving yet
Back to Florence
After more photo opportunities, it's time to return to the garage, taking the most scenic route back. As you reach the tree lined avenues, prepare to turn some heads as you and your vintage Fiat 500 become one of the sights of Florence.
Know before you go
- Participants must be able to drive with stick shift (manual) gears
- All drivers must present a valid driving licence
- Minimum age for drivers is 18 years
- Each car will take a maximum of 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 youths

Fabulous Fiat 500 tour
by: TRACY MCKENDRICK on Walkabout
We thoroughly enjoyed the vintage Fiat 500 driving day. We had great correspondence from the team to help with parking and meeting up with the team. Gabriel and Dario were awesome hosts and guides. Dario was our guide for the day. He was super friendly, excellent English, ran through all safety features of the car. Gave a driving lesson to the drivers before departure. We were in a small convoy of Vespas and cars. We went through beautiful Florence country lanes with lovely countryside and city views, our guide Dario was very knowledgeable about the area, history and answered all questions. Lunch was lovely at the Walkabout cookery school. Big shout out to Alex too, made sure our cars were in tip top condition, also assisted us en route at certain points to keep the group safe and together. Fab day, well organised. Just book it!
Don't forget to leave one hand one the wheel

Short of opening up a Ferrari on the Autobahn, this was an excellent hands-on activity. The guide and support staff were great and definitely got me excited to do another Walkabout tour!

We loved cruising around in our little Fiat. What a fun day. The views are just incredible, the staff was professional and so kind (thank you Gabrielle) and the cars are adorable. Lunch was served on a beautiful, private patio with garden views and the food was very good. Good info to know: our meeting time was 8:30, but the actual driving tour didn’t start until 10:30. There was a bus ride to their garage, instructions and a quick test drive for everyone. We were in a group with people doing the same tour on Vespas and all rode together. I highly recommend this tour. See the outskirts of Florence in a completely unique way.

Get out of the city in a once in lifetime experience

Being able to see the Tuscan countryside and getting out of the city is an absolute treat. It was gorgeous. I would highly recommend bringing driving gloves as the steering wheel is not wrapped in leather.
Joy ride with a view and delicious food.

This was so much fun driving an old Fiat. We stopped at beautiful views on the country side of Florence. The tour guide was funny and knowable about the area. The lunch stop was beautiful scenery and the food was delicious.

DO YOU PICK US UP FROM OUR HOTEL?
We do not organise hotel pick-ups for difficulties with parking and scheduling, but our meeting in front in Piazza dei Cavalleggeri is very central and should be easy to get to. We are just in front of the Biblioteca Nazionale (National Library) from which many hotels are located within easy walking distance of. Otherwise a taxi (you could ask your hotel to book it for you) would be the fastest option, dropping you off right at the entrance of the Biblioteca Nazionale (National Library).
