You will learn about the powerful Medici family and the greatest artists of the time in an intimate way, which will leave you with a deep understanding of the greatness of this city and its inhabitants. There is no other way to experience it than on our wonderful Florence walking tour!
The tour will start in Piazza della Repubblica as you learn about the city’s Roman foundation, then we will walk you through time as we discover Medieval Florence and the reasons it became so rich and powerful. You will see architecture from each period, from the famous tower houses to magnificent Renaissance palaces. You will see artists’ workshops and where David, one of the most famous sculptures in the world, was created. We will pass Dante’s house, learn about the religious centre and see how religion was at the core of everything.
Whilst listening to the expert guide you will stroll along Via Tornabuoni, the city’s most famous designer shopping street. Here we can also admire the impressive architecture, and we will see Via Maggio, the most famous antique shopping street. We will cross the beautiful Santa Trinita bridge and the world famous Ponte Vecchio bridge, walk through the charming cobbled streets of the Oltrano with its array of artisan workshops, see renowned churches, the Medici residences and palaces and the most famous squares of the city.
