Be Prepared

As the title of this excursion suggests, you can certainly expect to be doing a lot of walking throughout the day. Before you leave for the airport, make sure you’ve packed all the essentials – sensible walking shoes, comfortable clothing, sun protection, swimsuits, towels and, of course, your camera! You may also benefit from bringing a waterproof jacket and trousers in case of bad weather.

The Itinerary

Our Cinque Terre day trip from Florence is more than just a hike. You’ll begin by exploring the National Park, taking in the gorgeous scenery and wildlife as you walk to the clifftop village of Corniglia. After the tricky climb you’ll be rewarded with perfect panoramic views of the sea and surrounding hillside, and once you’ve taken a few snaps and enjoyed a little rest, you’ll head to Vernazza.

Vernazza village is without doubt one of the prettiest spots you’ll visit on this trip, so your guides will ensure you’re given plenty of time to explore, have a dip in the sea and enjoy a bite to eat in one of the quaint cafes or bars.

The next stop is Monterosso, and you might be relieved to learn that you don’t actually have to walk here. A short train ride to the village means you can sit back and admire the scenery from the comfort of a carriage, and once you’re there you’ll have plenty of energy for browsing the artisan shops and wandering across the beach.

If you’re lucky enough to have good weather for your experience, you’ll enjoy a boat ride to Riomaggiore where you’ll finish the walk. The boat journey is the ideal opportunity to take in the views from the water – and take some last minute photos, too!

“From the outset our guides were super informative and friendly, explaining how the day was going to go and pointing out sites we passed. The views were amazing. At the end of the hike we stopped for lunch at the first village and for the rest of the tour we visited the other villages, getting the train between them and having time to explore and grab gelato along the way. There’s also a boat trip to get to the last village, at this one we had calamari in a cone which was recommended and so fresh.
