Intrigued by the idea? Here’s a sample of what you’ll see, do, eat, drink and enjoy on this most magical and memorable day trip from Florence.
Exceptional Experiences & Iconic Destinations
On our Tuscany day trip from Florence you’ll be able to enjoy a range of truly authentic and exceptional experiences taking in a number of iconic destinations. It’s no secret that the things this region is most famous for – the food, the wine and the history – are on abundant display everywhere you turn. World-famous art cities, rolling vine-covered hills, picturesque hilltop towns, exquisite architecture and idyllic rural farmhouses are just the start of this memorable experience. The fact that it’s all set within the most glorious landscape is a bonus that can’t be ignored, with the joy being that it’s all relatively compact – so the pace is leisurely and stress-free.
Wonderful Wines
You don’t have to be a wine aficionado to have heard about the famous Chianti wines, and what could be a better way to sample them than at a stunning wine estate where the grapes are grown and the wines produced right there on site? Visiting a family-run vineyard and touring the estate (and drinking the wine of course!) is one of the highlights of our day trip from Florence.
You’ll be in the capable hands of an expert as you enjoy your tastings, so you’ll have the chance to learn more about the varietals of this gorgeous area. In order to be named as such, the Chianti wines must be made from at least 80% Sangiovese grapes, with some blends using Syrah, Merlot or Cabernet as well. The Chianti Classico is the high-end version and it’s a wine-lover’s dream come true to get the chance to sample the numerous local versions at the source. Even if you’re not a wine lover before you set out on this day trip from Florence, it’s almost guaranteed you will be by the time you finish!
Food, Fabulous Food
What goes best with a Tuscan wine? If your answer is another Tuscan wine you’d be spot on, but the other perfect pairing is, of course, the traditional food of the region. Our fabulous tour takes you deep into the rolling hills to enjoy a feast of fabulous local dishes using the freshest of fresh organic produce and many of the ingredients for which the area is famous.
Local olive oil features heavily, as do fat, juicy tomatoes unlike anything you’ve ever tasted from the supermarket, warm crusty bread, cheeses including the delicious pecorino (try it with honey!) and hearty, flavoursome meat-based dishes. The traditional Tuscan cuisine allows for the simple but wholesome ingredients to take centre stage and, even as your stomach is groaning in defeat, you’ll still be looking for more. It’s impossible to resist…
'Loved This Tour!'
'We spent a wonderful day with Elisa who is extremely professional, knowledgeable and insightful. This was a special time with our son who is studying abroad. It gave us time to experience something special together, the tour and lunch at the farm was my personal favourite, tasting wine and enjoying the beautiful scenery was right out of a movie. The stops in Siena and San Gimignano were beautiful and interesting. We did the typical tourist pic holding up the Tower of Pisa. Overall, an amazing day and highlight of our trip!'

A Fascinating History Revealed
Simply driving through this magnificent part of Italy offers a history lesson in itself as you stop to explore medieval hilltop towns, out-of-the-way villages and the highly photogenic landscape. But of course, it’s in the iconic high-profile cities of Pisa, Siena and San Gimignano which we visit on our day trip from Florence that the true wealth of artistic and cultural highlights is revealed.
Pisa
The star of Pisa needs no introduction – and were you really there unless you take the obligatory photo holding up the world-famous Leaning Tower? It’s got to be done…
But even aside from the tower there’s so much more to be found in this surprising city. The Cathedral and the Baptistery are both spectacular architectural feats in their own right (right next to the Leaning Tower), and a short tour of the historic heart of the city introduces you to a very different side Pisa.
Siena
Along with Florence, Siena is one of the country’s most beloved showcases of Renaissance art and culture. This stunning medieval city is set around the vast Piazza del Campo with its dizzying Torre del Mangia (climb it if you dare), which is renowned as the site for the six-century old tradition of the Palio horse race. Just taking your time and wandering around the charming streets to admiring the ambience and architecture is the best way to get a feel for the city, but there’s a host of attractions to see along the way. These include the striking Duomo, the Palazzo Publico and the many, many open-air cafes and restaurants where you just must stop for a coffee and a bit of people watching.
San Gimignano
This charming and unique medieval hilltop town is instantly recognisable, with its skyline of soaring stone ‘towers’ the first thing you’ll see. Within the thirteenth-century walls of the town you’ll find a treasure trove of art, architecture and history, all set within a very walkable radius. It’s not for nothing this picturesque town achieved UNESCO World heritage protection and it’s absolutely steeped in history. Its host of attractions include the Cathedral with its magnificent frescoes, the Archaeological Museum, and Torre Grossa, the tallest of the towers. If you have the inclination you can climb the tower and take in breathtaking views over the countryside through which we travel on this day trip from Florence.
Alongside its cultural riches, though, San Gimignano is also simply an utterly enchanting town in which to spend some leisure time. It’s a pure joy to stroll its winding cobbled streets, stopping off for some retail therapy in the many boutiques and quirky shops, or just to grab an award-winning gelato and sit in the sun to soak it all up.
See the Highlights of Tuscany
We don’t like to boast, but the rumours are true: Tuscany really does have it all! Wonderful wines, fabulous food, rich history and a deep well-preserved culture that’s endured throughout the centuries – it’s all here. So of course you want to see it all! We’ve designed our Tuscany day trip from Florence to make sure you don’t miss out on any of it. We’re very proud of this superb itinerary, which takes you through one of the most beautiful places in the world to introduce you to its authentic heart and soul.
But we don’t like to rush you, so you won’t spend the entire time being shuffled on and off a bus with no time to explore. We allow you plenty of opportunities to get to know each place we visit, and our friendly and knowledgeable guides are there every step of the way to make your day fun, interesting and full of all the best things in life.
